So...what's all this?
Last week I was at the doctor's office because my throat hurt. Turns out I have strep throat. As the doctor came in to do my check-up, a doctor I've never seen before they asked what my symptoms were, how long they had lasted...appropriate medical questions. After this person finished their examination of the medical issue I addressed with them, they asked..."so...what's all this?" and sort of pointed in my general direction. I didn't know what they meant at first so I look down at my shirt and see I'm wearing a shirt from my job. So, I go into explain my place of employment. But that is not what they meant. They wanted to know about my scoliosis. They said, "I could see something was going on there but I didn't know for sure and the nurse didn't put it on your chart."
First off....that is not the reason I am here today so it doesn't matter. The two things are not connected. Secondly, be specific... don't just wave your hands in my general direction? Ask, is there anything with your back or spine that we need to address today?
Third. Shouldn't you have a better bedside manner?
I am more than my scoliosis. If you have questions, ask. Don't be derogatory or flippant.
