The Unexpected

Last week I came into my office and sat down at my computer to check my email. Regular email, regular work, and then something from an important office. It reads, "I am deeply saddened in this moment of writing you that yesterday we experienced the loss of a respected colleague, a dear friend, and a valued team member."

I gasped at the name of the coworker who passed. It didn't seem possible. She and I are about the same age, have worked at the same place for the same number of years and interacted with each other over the years. This sweet, kind, compassionate person who worked hard at making this place a better place and the our mission come to fruition.

I know a few posts ago I talked about life not being fair and again life proves me right. This woman was taken from this earth way too soon. I feel as though I am just beginning to live and in the next moment you're not.
