It's the Most Soul-Crushing-Depressing Time of the Year...

What? Those aren't the words to the song?

We get stressed out by the money we spend on people we love and people who happen to share the same office space as us. We battle hoards of strangers to get bargains and deals. We rip our houses apart to make room for a tree. We decorate said tree with lights and other decorations we hope the children, pets and fire doesn't destroy. We play songs on the radio to get us in the Christmas Spirit. But have you listened to the songs?

Most Christmas songs are very melancholy and depressing. They remind people of the loved ones who are no longer there. This season reminds people of where they thought they would be in life and it's not there. This time of year reminds people how little they have to give to others. It reminds people of traditions they used to have as a kid, but have no longer. Those traditions you had as a kid or with your kids are gone now because kids have grown and created their own families far apart from you.

I am not putting up a Christmas tree this year. I'm not playing Christmas music on the radio. I'm not going out of my way to buy presents. I honestly just want to disappear. This is not the most wonderful time of year. Just another season of manipulation and soul crushing depression.
