In the past two weeks, I have had the ability to step down from an executive board of a state organization and I couldn't be happier. I've spent the last few days organizing all my files, uploading documents to our Google drive, and making sure everything is taken care of before I turn over my files to the next person. But the cool thing is that I have been able to delegate even MORE tasks to other people.

I am able to share my workload with my competent staff now and I have found the ability to turn down "other duties as assigned." Who knew that was even an option!?! I have a meeting tomorrow that several offices are attending. My office is the official host. I have no idea what's happening at the meeting tomorrow. I didn't plan one single item of what happens tomorrow. I was also asked to talk to some students during the same time so I might not even attend my own meeting! I am okay with this, too.

I'm even considering leaning towards leaving the executive board for the city board I'm on. It's time to finish this dang dissertation. So, goodbye to lots of people and responsibilities. It's time to focus on me and my needs. Yall are big kids. You can take care of yourselves. That's both a present to me and a present to others. I get more free time and you get more responsibility! So, Merry Christmas to the both of us!
