All Good Things Must Come to an End

Today is my student workers last day of work. He's worked for me for the last 4 years of his undergraduate career. He has helped me run the program and has become not only my trusted employee but also a friend.

Today he steps onto the next page of the rest of his life. The "Post-workstudy" phase. He is still a student here at the university, but now he is working at at internship more in line with his major. It is my hope that I have taught him how to be a professional in the workforce and how to mentor others.

I know he cares about our program and I know he cares about our students. He was in the program as a high school student and had the opportunity to serve our kiddos and give back to them what he received. But more than that, he has become part of our work family. Our program really does operate like a family and he is a valued member of the family.

I will miss our discussions on life and philosophy and books. But I know he is on for far greater things in life. I can't wait to see what he becomes. This chapter might be completed, but his story is just beginning.
